On July 28, 2026, the Dodgers activated utility man Kiké Hernández from the 60-day IL following a grade-3 left oblique tear. His recovery involved daily hyperbaric sessions and a stem-cell injection, resulting in a strong return with a home run and two doubles in his first two games. To accommodate him, second-baseman Alex Freeland was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Closer Edwin Díaz also returned to the active roster after three months recovering from elbow surgery to remove loose bodies, leading to the designation of Charlie Barnes.
