Los Angeles Sparks and Portland Fire season conclusion

The Los Angeles Sparks and Portland Fire concluded their respective seasons in a matchup following both teams' failure to qualify for the playoffs.

Prior to the game, Portland entered the contest on a three-game losing streak, having recently suffered defeats against Phoenix and Golden State. The expansion team sought to build momentum heading into its first offseason, led by standout performer Carla Leite, who averaged 15.8 points and 6.3 assists per game. Los Angeles held a 15-26 record and was coming off a loss to Dallas. The matchup served as the final season for Los Angeles player Nneka Ogwumike, who averaged 17.2 points and 8.8 rebounds.

During the game, the Sparks celebrated the unveiling of an 11-foot bronze statue honoring basketball legend Lisa Leslie at Star Plaza outside the Crypto.com Arena. Created by Julie Rotblatt Amrany and Omri Amrany, the statue depicts Leslie performing the first dunk in WNBA history. Leslie is the first Sparks player to receive this honor and the second WNBA player to receive a statue outside a U.S. professional basketball arena. The unveiling ceremony included appearances by Magic Johnson, Candace Parker, and Michael Cooper.

The Sparks secured a 105-84 victory over the Fire, driven by a strong second-quarter run and scoring efforts from Ogwumike and Emma Cannon.
