The province of Soria has seen a significant rise in the adoption of zero-emission vehicles. In 2025, registrations for vehicles with the DGT ‘CERO’ environmental label reached 225, up from 57 the previous year. Building on this shift toward cleaner transport, the Soria City Council has initiated the first phase of its Low Emissions Soria (BES) campaign. This phase focuses on public information and administrative assistance, utilizing an artificial intelligence assistant on the BES website to resolve citizen inquiries. The implementation of the zone will be progressive, initially serving as an informative period without sanctions. The regulations are designed to target older, more polluting vehicles that lack environmental labels, while vehicles already possessing such labels will face no restrictions. Additionally, the council is registering license plates for municipal services, such as police and firefighting, to ensure smooth administrative transitions. As of September 2026, the BES initiative remains a key component of municipal administrative efforts in Soria, alongside broader regional efforts to manage community information and services.
