Low water levels in Czech Republic reservoirs caused by drought have revealed various historical structures and artifacts. In the Lipno Reservoir, receding waters in Dolní Vltavice uncovered the remains of a 19th-century cemetery. Experts recovered 12 stone relics, including fragments dating back to 1849, which were likely moved during exhumations in the 1950s. Local museums and heritage institutes are working to research the identities of those commemorated by the stones. The Březová Reservoir near Karlovy Vary has reached its lowest water levels in approximately 20 years, revealing a historical bridge that is usually submerged. According to Povodí Ohře spokesperson Dana Zikešová, the water level is approaching a critical threshold of 421 meters above sea level. At the Hracholusky Reservoir near Plzeň, water levels have dropped between 4.5 and 6 meters below seasonal norms, exposing remnants of the submerged village of Dolany. The site includes tree stumps and orchard remains from the area flooded during the reservoir’s construction between 1959 and 1964. While Dolany was systematically demolished prior to flooding, some wall remnants in the neighboring Těchodly remain visible to divers at depths of 17 to 25 meters. The drought has also caused practical difficulties for local residents, as some nearby wells have run dry due to the receding water table. In the Vranov Reservoir, drought conditions have exposed the remains of the submerged village of Bítov, including house foundations, stone cellars, and wall remnants. Radek Špatka from Povodí Moravy reported that the reservoir is filled to approximately 30 percent, with the water level at 338.34 meters above sea level—significantly below the ideal storage level of 348.45 meters. The village was flooded in the early 1930s, forcing over 400 residents to relocate.
