Following their 3-2 loss to Lugano, Red Star Belgrade (Crvena zvezda) has continued to struggle in the UEFA Conference League league phase. The club has failed to secure victories in recent matches, including a draw against Copenhagen. Manager Albert Riera noted that while the team is disappointed with earning only one point against Copenhagen, he remains satisfied with their performance, citing high possession and the creation of numerous chances. However, the team has struggled to maintain leads, with individual errors—including an own goal by Matej Gaštarov—playing a decisive role in recent results. Defensive instability has become a focal point of scrutiny. Gaštarov, a promising young player, has been forced to play out of his natural defensive midfield position to act as a center-back due to limited squad options. This tactical necessity has been highlighted as a contributing factor to the team's recent defensive challenges. Looking ahead to a match against OFK Beograd, Riera has warned of potential lineup surprises due to injuries to several players, including Lukasen, Abu Fani, Elšnik, and Gaštarov.
