The 8th edition of the Luv FM Kel-Charcoal Toothpaste High School Debate has progressed through the Round of 16 toward the quarter-finals. During the initial stages, St. Hubert Seminary advanced after defeating Anglican Senior High School, Kumasi, in a debate regarding the purposefulness of community service versus custodial sentences. Osei Adutwum SHS also moved forward, while Anglican Senior High School and Tepa SHS were eliminated. In subsequent Round of 16 contests, defending champions Prempeh College were eliminated by Church of Christ SHS in a unanimous decision regarding insurance premiums and towing services. Other schools advancing to the quarter-finals include KNUST SHS, following a victory over Afigyaman SHS, and St. Louis Senior High School, which defeated Konongo Odumasi SHS. In the most recent Round of 16 matches, Opoku Ware School secured a spot in the quarter-finals by defeating New Edubiase SHS with a score of 235–214 on the motion, ‘Ghanaians are overly religious.’ St. Hubert Seminary SHS also advanced after a narrow 239–233 victory over Ibadur Rahman Academy, debating whether ‘the possibility of making a better life in Ghana is higher than going abroad.’
