The Madhya Pradesh government initiated a series of youth-focused programs through the CM Youth Conclave 2026 in Bhopal. The event, organized by the Higher Education Department, was designed to connect students with opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies. Following the conclave, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that 2027 will be designated as the ‘Year of Youth’. Key policy developments include transitioning the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) to biannual examinations starting in 2027. To support educational and professional growth, the state plans to establish 12 new medical colleges and 12 skill-oriented universities, alongside providing free coaching for competitive exams in government colleges. Additional measures include equipping colleges with Artificial Intelligence laboratories, increasing research scholar stipends from Rs 16,000 to Rs 25,000, and launching a Rs 5-crore ‘Idea Fund’ to support innovation and startups. Despite these policy announcements, the conclave was marked by unrest during a musical performance by singer Jubin Nautiyal. Clashes occurred between students and police at the Lal Parade Ground after some youths attempted to breach barricades. The confrontation involved the throwing of chairs and the use of force by police to control the crowd. Local political leaders have criticized the incident, citing it as a sign of youth dissatisfaction.
