The Madlanga Commission’s inquiry into the Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) has ~~entered a further phase of witness testimony and related investigations. In early June the commission issued a Regulation 10(6) notice compelling Major‑General Feroz Khan,~~ intensified following the ~~suspended deputy head~~ resignation of Crime Intelligence, to appear on 1 July. Khan had sought court interdicts to block the commission’s access to seized electronic devices but withdrew the applications, allowing the inquiry to proceed. Days before his scheduled appearance, Khan was shot and wounded in Johannesburg on 29 June. The South African Police Service launched a high‑level investigation, with the Gauteng Hawks and the Political Killings Task Team involved, while officials cautioned against linking the attack to the commission’s work. In July the focus shifted to IDAC’s its former head, Advocate Andrea Johnson. After ~~being discharged from hospital,~~ facing scrutiny regarding flawed evidence used in investigations against senior Crime Intelligence officials, Johnson ~~was summoned to testify.
