The Community of Madrid is implementing various social and labor integration initiatives to support vulnerable populations. One program involves a 14.2% increase in subsidies for companies that hire individuals at risk of social exclusion. This effort includes vocational training through projects like the Mercado Escuela de San Cristóbal, which utilizes a methodology where students learn alongside professionals in sectors such as hospitality and local commerce. Additionally, the region is maintaining a social and labor integration program specifically for 104 Ukrainian refugees. This initiative provides housing, psychological support, and language classes, with a particular focus on individuals with severe mental illness or intellectual disabilities. So far, 16 refugees have entered the labor market in sectors such as gardening and cleaning. Expanding its focus on employment, the regional government has approved new regulations and increased funding to support the training and hiring of unemployed youth. For 2026, subsidies for three specific aid lines will increase by nearly 4 million euros. Key changes include expanding eligibility for training grants by raising the maximum income limit from three to six times the Public Multiple Income Indicator (IPREM). For those in more precarious situations—earning less than three times the IPREM—available funds will double from 1,500 to 3,000 euros. The funding targets stable job placement, training contracts, and work-study programs. Employers and non-profits can receive up to 9,000 euros for hiring eligible young job seekers through vouchers or checks tailored to labor market needs.
