The Magic: The Gathering franchise is expanding its Universes Beyond line through a crossover with Star Trek. Following initial leaks of themed tokens like Klingon Warrior and Borg, Wizards of the Coast officially confirmed the crossover set for release on November 13, 2026, to coincide with Star Trek’s 60th anniversary. The collection will feature content from across the franchise’s history, including film, television, and animation, highlighting iconic characters such as Captain Kirk, Spock, Picard, and Janeway. A notable feature includes seven different signed headliner cards featuring portrait-style character depictions, which were physically signed by iconic actors and will be randomly inserted into Collector Boosters with fewer than 250 copies of each existing. Recent reveals have expanded the known mechanics to include ‘Spacecraft’, ‘Station’, ‘Beam Me Up’, and ‘Strange New Worlds’. Specific card spoilers include the U.S.S. Enterprise-A, a legendary artifact capable of creating Officer tokens, and the D-7 Battle Cruiser, which can generate Klingon Warrior tokens. Additionally, the red enchantment Exploratory Mission has been revealed, utilizing the Landfall ability for card advantage and mana generation. As the release approaches, Wizards of the Coast indicates the set is poised to break records for the number of new creature types introduced in a single expansion. At least 32 new creature types have been revealed, including Vulcan, Klingon, Romulan, Borg, and Ferengi. This diversity is supported by a new ‘Federation’ mechanic, which scales based on the variety of creature types present on the battlefield. The set is being released alongside the ‘Reality Fracture’ set, which concludes a three-year story arc involving the character Jace and the emergence of the Echoverse. The upcoming release is already impacting the secondary market, with the card Dark Matter Manipulator seeing a price increase from approximately $1 to $8 due to its utility in Modern, Legacy, and Standard formats.
