In late July 2026, a shallow magnitude-3.6 earthquake struck the Nashik district of Maharashtra, being felt in four nearby talukas. The tremor caused brief panic but resulted in no injuries or major damage, aside from a minor wall crack at a government school. Authorities inspected vulnerable structures and urged safety precautions. A week later, heavy rainfall triggered a landslide at Chandsaili Ghat in Nandurbar district, blocking the Taloda-Dhadgaon road. Disaster-management teams and the National Disaster Response Force began clearing operations, reporting no casualties. On the same day, a slightly stronger magnitude-3.8 quake occurred near Nashik at a similar depth, again without injuries or significant damage. The events illustrate a pattern of low-intensity seismic activity combined with rain-induced landslides in Maharashtra, prompting continued monitoring by state and national agencies. Seismic activity intensified on August 8 and 9, when a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck near the Hatgad mountain range in the Bhanwad area, followed by a 3.3-magnitude tremor. These tremors were felt across several talukas, including Nashik city, Surgana, Kalwan, and Dindori. While no casualties occurred, the tremors caused wall cracks in houses in Bhadar and Nanashi. District officials inspected local dams and reported no damage, advising residents to remain alert while cautioning against rumors. On August 11, the Palghar district experienced two 3.4-magnitude earthquakes within one hour on Monday night. Both tremors occurred at a depth of 5 km. Local officials reported no casualties, injuries, or structural damage. Palghar is noted as a seismically sensitive area that has seen recurring low-magnitude tremors. On the morning of August 14, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck the Nashik district at a depth of approximately 3 kilometers. The tremor caused minor panic in the Surgana taluka, though no damage to life or property was reported.
