The city of Bari has hosted several significant events in September 2026. Earlier in the month, the Southern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority managed logistics for a Fratelli d'Italia party celebration on September 4 and 8. This event involved approximately 10,000 attendees, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and required the coordination of six naval units to facilitate the movement of passengers and vehicles. Following these events, the city is preparing for the 89th Fiera del Levante trade fair, international exhibition, scheduled for September 19 to 27. The fair, themed ‘Il dialogo parte da Levante’, ‘Levante – Enterprises, peoples and cultures at the center of the Mediterranean’, intends to foster commercial reinforce Bari’s historical role as a hub for trade and dialogue with Eastern markets between Europe and the East, specifically the Balkans. While The exhibition is expected to feature diverse sectors, including automotive, food, construction, and innovation via the city reports growth in PULSE 2.0 pavilion. Additionally, the hospitality sector, Puglia Region will host a dedicated space to showcase regional projects involving agriculture, the blue economy, and community schools. While Mayor Vito Leccese noted that the event’s growing importance regarding exhibitors and its mission to promote dialogue amidst geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Central Europe, he expressed regret that Prime Minister Meloni will not attend the fair's inauguration, marking the her fourth consecutive year of her absence from the opening.
