Malatya Airport has officially opened a new 26,765-square-meter terminal building to accommodate rising regional air travel. The expansion increases the facility’s annual passenger capacity from 1.2 million to 2.5 million. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the opening following the arrival of the first passengers from Istanbul. The new terminal includes a check-in hall, dedicated domestic and international lounges, and a VIP area. The project aims to address a significant increase in traffic, noting that annual passenger numbers grew from 89,645 in 2003 to 849,957 in 2025. Technical specifications of the new facility include 18 check-in counters, 12 passport control desks, and dedicated VIP and CIP areas. The infrastructure is supported by a 102,927-square-meter apron with 13 aircraft parking spaces, capable of servicing 5 to 6 aircraft simultaneously. Additional amenities provided at the site include a 498-vehicle parking lot, social areas, and children’s play zones.
