Malatya Chamber of Commerce election campaign
Overview
The Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO) presidency election has become a focal point for discussions regarding the economic future of Malatya. Initially, the Malatya Entrepreneurs and Businessmen Association (MAGİNDER) met with candidate Mahmut Boyraz to discuss regional economic planning. MAGİNDER President Salih Karademir noted that the association would support candidates presenting viable projects, specifically highlighting Boyraz’s continued investment in the region following the February 6 earthquakes. Boyraz formally announced his candidacy, noting that his campaign includes approximately 97 candidates across 33 committees. During a meeting with AK Party Malatya Provincial Chairman Ali Bakan, Boyraz emphasized the need to strengthen Malatya’s commercial capacity as the city undergoes reconstruction efforts. Bakan underscored the Chamber’s role as a vital economic driver for regional competitiveness. Expanding his outreach, Boyraz visited the Geleli Rütükhanlılar Social Assistance and Solidarity Culture Association to advocate for collective cooperation. He argued that Malatya’s progress requires a collaborative approach involving political parties, NGOs, professional chambers, and universities. Boyraz stated that his goal is to include all sectors of society in decision-making, asserting that “everyone needs to be at every table for the development of Malatya.” As his campaign enters its final month, Boyraz has refined his platform to emphasize a management model based on collective intelligence and consultation. During a visit to the Malatya branch of the Birlik Foundation, he stated that he does not seek a system based on the rule of a single individual. He proposed bringing organized industrial zones, tradesmen chambers, and the commodity exchange to the same table, arguing that the MTSO should act as an active stakeholder in all matters concerning Malatya rather than being viewed solely as an institution for trade and industry. Continuing his campaign, Boyraz visited the Darende district to meet with MTSO members.
