In August 2026, Mali hosted two major national events focused on digital development and sports. The fourth edition of the Semaine du Numérique (Digital Week) concluded in Bamako on 1 August. Chaired by Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga and attended by delegations from Burkina Faso and Niger, the event emphasized digital sovereignty and regional cooperation in the Sahel. Key initiatives included a partnership to train 15,000 young Malians for digital roles and the launch of the African Gaming and e-Sports Salon. Following this, the 2026 Sports Biennale opened with a cultural ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Maïga.
