Mallakastër Algeria wildfires force evacuations in Koilac village

A series of intense wildfires has impacted northern Algeria, resulting in six deaths and the destruction or damage of approximately 150 homes. The fires, which spanned thousands of hectares through over 1,500 incidents in a twelve-day period, forced the evacuation of more than 100 patients from a hospital in the Anaba province. In response, the interior ministry has initiated a nationwide damage assessment to facilitate compensation for affected families, while firefighting efforts continue using ground crews and aerial resources.
