During the sixth edition of the Rally 550 Challenge in Mallorca, a vehicle plunged into a ravine on a mountain stretch of the Ma-10 road in the Serra de Tramuntana between Pollença and Lluc. The accident resulted in the death of the driver, identified as Klaus Rader, a 63-year-old German entrepreneur and co-founder of the restaurant chains L'Osteria and Vapiano. Rader was participating as a test driver in a white Porsche 911 GT3 RS when the vehicle veered off the road near Mortitx. The driver’s 39-year-old co-pilot, identified as Austrian professional driver Christina Ettel, sustained serious spinal injuries and was transported to a hospital by emergency crews. Following the crash, the Spanish Guardia Civil launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. In response to the tragedy, race organizers made the “painful, but firm and irrevocable” decision to cancel all remaining timed stages and terminate the competition, stating that respect and humanity must take precedence over sporting goals. L'Osteria confirmed Rader’s death and expressed deep sorrow regarding the loss of the man who helped establish the company in 1999. Rader is survived by his wife, fashion influencer Viky, Viktoria “Viky” Rader, and four children; his wife has requested privacy for children. In a social media statement, Viky described her state as “everything in a fog” and urged others to “give the family during this period people who mean something to you another hug and another word of mourning. love.” Following the accident, reports emerged that tourists had been looting the crash site for souvenirs. While the main wreckage was recovered, the site remained accessible to the public, leading to the disappearance of various fragments, including a side mirror, a broken side window with a sticker, and pieces of the underbody. One German tourist reportedly took a piece of metal from the roadside after being confronted.
