Cultural and arts programming in Manaus Theatre Showcase hosts free workshops for artists

Cultural initiatives in Manaus, Brazil, have expanded through various public art and performing arts programs in mid-2026. In late July, the city launched the second edition of the ‘Arte no Busão’ project, which invites Amazonian artists to submit digital proposals for artworks to be displayed on the exteriors of city buses. Project coordinator Sarah Campelo stated the initiative aims to “bring contemporary art into everyday public spaces and expand free, inclusive cultural access.” Following this, the 2nd Águas de Manaus Theatre Showcase (MTAM) commenced in August. The festival features professional performances, such as the internationally toured production ‘Tom na Fazenda’, alongside free educational workshops. These workshops focus on topics including poetic audio description for cultural accessibility, cast preparation, and the international circulation of Brazilian theater, aiming to strengthen local production and community dialogue.
