Following a June 2026 slowdown where hotel overnight stays fell 0.9% year-on-year to 38.6 million nights—driven by a 2% drop in non-resident visits—the sector saw a slight recovery in July. Provisional data from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) indicates July stays rose 0.3% to 44.8 million, fueled by a 1.1% increase in international tourists that offset a 1.1% decline in domestic stays. Despite these shifts, price increases remain consistent. Spain’s Hotel Price Index rose 5.9% in July, continuing a 50-month streak of year-on-year growth. In the Canary Islands, July stays decreased 0.3% to 8.9 million, though tourism turnover rose 5.8% to 507 million euros. Regional data shows Andalusia reached record average daily rates for July at 164.56 euros, with Málaga exceeding 200 euros per room. While the Valencian Community saw a 4.3% increase in overnight stays and a 9.8% price hike, Castilla y León experienced a 7.6% drop in stays.
