The Manisa Metropolitan Municipality has initiated several infrastructure projects in the Selendi district to improve transportation safety and accessibility. In the Gölbaşı Neighborhood, the municipality began paving 8,000 square meters of roads with cobblestones. This project aims to resolve long-standing accessibility issues caused by rain and mud, which previously hindered essential services like ambulances and milk collection vehicles. Following this, the municipality commenced asphalt works on a 5-kilometer connection road between Halılar Mahallesi and the Harbiciler highway. This project involves a double-layer emulsion cold asphalt application, marking the first such application on this specific route since its construction in 2000. Technical crews, including 10 personnel and several specialized vehicles, are performing the work to improve driving comfort and road safety. Selendi District Coordinator Durmuş Özdemir noted that the 26-year gap since the last maintenance made this work a “critical necessity” for local residents and agricultural producers. The double-layer application is intended to increase the road’s lifespan and enhance water insulation.
