National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin clarified that the shooting occurred outside the school building and dismissed claims of peer bullying, noting the perpetrator had only attended school for a few days. He emphasized the danger of accessible firearms and urged parents to monitor children’s digital footprints. One victim, K. B., remains in critical condition with 35 pellets lodged in his leg that cannot be removed due to the risk of tissue damage. The incident has sparked a broader debate regarding school safety, leading the Turkish Grand National Assembly to form a research commission to investigate the causes of school violence.
