Manu Koné's role and valuation at AS Roma

Overview

Manu Koné has established himself as an essential figure in Gian Piero Gasperini’s technical project at AS Roma. Following his move from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2024, the French midfielder has been deemed “untouchable” by coaching staff, with management previously resisting interest from clubs such as Inter Milan and Chelsea to ensure stability.

Koné’s market value has risen significantly, with Roma now valuing the 25-year-old at approximately €100 million. This follows a summer period where interest from clubs including Chelsea and Atlético Madrid resulted in rejected bids ranging between €45 million and €60 million. While Roma’s sporting director previously clarified that no official bid was made by Chelsea during the summer window, the midfielder remains a high-priority target for several Premier League clubs.

His profile has been further bolstered by his versatility under France manager Zinedine Zidane. Koné has successfully transitioned into a deeper defensive role, demonstrating tactical discipline during recent international fixtures, such as a Nations League match against Turkey. At the club level, he remains a key figure, highlighted by a two-goal performance in a match against Inter Milan.
