In Mar del Plata, municipal efforts have focused on urban revitalization and cultural engagement. A proposed ordinance, the ‘Municipal Program for the Reactivation of Commercial Galleries’, seeks to address the abandonment of approximately fifty commercial galleries by transforming them into hubs for innovation and entrepreneurship. The plan suggests allowing entrepreneurs to use vacant premises for at least six months at no cost in exchange for municipal tax exemptions and debt forgiveness for property owners. Complementing these urban initiatives, the Municipal Entity of Tourism and Culture (EMTURyC) has organized diverse cultural programming. This includes educational workshops and disability-focused services at the Biblioteca Parlante, such as Braille training and caregiver certification courses, as well as theatrical performances and documentary screenings at the Centro Cultural Osvaldo Soriano. Recent programming through the Osvaldo Soriano Cultural Center continues to offer a wide range of theater, music, and cinema activities, maintaining the city’s focus on community-based cultural and literacy initiatives.
