The María Moliner Award for Reading Animation, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, has been granted to multiple municipal libraries in Spain. In Ribadavia, the municipal library received its tenth award for the project ‘Biblioteca comprometida: lectura, comunidade e conciencia global’. This initiative uses literature to engage children and families with topics such as human rights, migration, and social inequality. The grant will be used to purchase new books. Similarly, the Villamayor Municipal Library was awarded the 2026 prize for its efforts in promoting reading and cultural engagement. The library, which offers programming such as storytelling and family theater, will use the grant to strengthen its collections through the acquisition of new publications. Recently, the municipal library network of Redondela also received the award for the quality of its services and reading promotion efforts. The recognition highlights the network’s ability to foster reading clubs, integrate diverse groups, and collaborate with social associations and local educational centers. The award includes a grant of 2,777 euros intended to expand public book collections. Local officials noted that the prize validates a cultural model that is inclusive and accessible to all community members.
