In late July 2026, organizers in Croatia announced the schedule for two major Marian events. A three‑day feast on the island of Korčula was set for 25 July, featuring morning and evening masses led by local clergy. A larger celebration in Sinj was slated for 14–15 August at the Sanctuary and Basilica of Our Lady of Sinj, with multiple daily masses, processions, novenas and nightly vigils planned through late August. A few days later, additional programs were released for the Velika Gospa (Assumption) festivities in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia‑Herzegovina, and for the Sinj celebrations. The Široki Brijeg itinerary detailed a nine‑day schedule of evening prayers and solemn masses from 6‑14 August, while the Sinj program highlighted hourly masses on 14 August, a main evening celebration in the town square, processions with the miraculous image of Our Lady, and extra pilgrimages and vigils extending into late August. The Sinj events also marked the 800th anniversary of St Francis of Assisi, drawing tens of thousands of faithful from the region. On 14 August, thousands of pilgrims gathered in Sinj for the feast of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj, an event commemorating the city’s 1715 defense against Ottoman forces. The celebration featured a traditional procession with the miraculous image led by Alkar riders in historical attire. Religious ceremonies were presided over by Split-Makarska Archbishop Monsignor Zdenko Križić. The event, which drew believers from Dalmatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other parts of Croatia, was attended by Minister of Demography and Migration Ivan Šipić.
