Maruti Suzuki India Limited inaugurated Plant D at its Hansalpur manufacturing complex in Gujarat, raising the site’s annual output to 1 million vehicles—the first Suzuki plant to reach that level. The new line adds 250,000 units per year and will initially produce the e‑VITARA, Suzuki’s first fully electric SUV. Production at Plant D began on 30 July 2024, confirming the start of output for the e‑VITARA. With Plant D in operation, the four Hansalpur plants together account for about 47 % of the group’s exports in FY 2025‑26, and the company’s total Indian capacity now stands at roughly 2.9 million vehicles annually. Maruti Suzuki also signed an agreement to build a second plant in Sanand, slated for 2029, aiming to lift overall Indian capacity to 4 million units by the early 2030s.
