Marvel Studios confirmed on 30 July 2026 that Sadie Sink portrays mutant Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the franchise’s fourth solo film, which opened worldwide on 31 July 2026. The studio concealed the casting with the fake script codename ‘Denim Red’ to preserve the opening-weekend experience. In the film, Grey uses telepathic powers to possess individuals while searching for her sister, Sara, who was taken by the Department of Damage Control. After being captured by the department's chief, Bill Metzger, Grey assists Spider-Man in surviving a gunshot before fleeing the city. The film also introduces Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned roughly $927 million in its first weekend and surpassed $1.68 billion globally by mid-August. Following the film's release, Sink addressed her portrayal, noting her intention to avoid a ‘villain’ label by depicting Jean as a character reacting to trauma rather than acting out of inherent malice. ~~While social media rumors regarding Robert Downey Jr. were unverified, cast members including Tom Holland and Inde Navarrette praised her performance.
