Since late June, Mayor Beto Granados has continued a series of outreach and service initiatives in Matamoros. The June ‘Matamoros Informa’ and ‘Martes en tu Colonia’ events highlighted ExpoFeria Matamoros 2026, the July–August military exhibition, the Small League Series, and introduced a weekly vehicle-service module to streamline licensing. In mid-July the low-cost ‘Mercadito Móvil’ began delivering basic foods to seniors and people with mobility challenges, while resident meetings under ‘Tu Voz Transforma’ announced sidewalk construction, pothole repairs, street-lighting upgrades, a new classroom, and a review of a proposed green-area development. During the weekend of 2–3 August, the city hosted cultural activities at the Expo Militar, including folkloric ballet and a SEDENA mariachi performance, alongside health-prevention services such as vision screenings, anti-dengue fumigation, and junk-removal drives. The ‘Matamoros Verde’ campaign also conducted reforestation and cleaning in Fraccionamiento Canadá, providing free veterinary services like rabies vaccinations. On 6 August, the mayor inaugurated the paving of Miguel Alemán Street in the Carlos Salinas de Gortari colonia, a project financed by the 2026 Municipal Social Infrastructure Fund (FAISMUN) that includes asphalt, curbs, and sidewalks. By 9 August, the Matamoros Water and Drainage Board (JAD) reported progress in sewage rehabilitation, noting the repair of over 300 collapsed sections and the installation of more than 5,000 meters of infrastructure. To support economic growth, Granados presided over the installation of ‘Alianza Matamoros,’ a collaborative space involving public, industrial, educational, union, and social sectors to attract investment. In During mid-August, infrastructure efforts expanded with paving on Río Misisipi and Río de la Plata streets in the Ampliación Solidaridad neighborhood, funded by the Banobras-FAIS 2026 program. Concurrently, the administration began renovating the Canchas del Cambio sports complex ~~in the Treviño Zapata neighborhood~~ and announced a new roof for Ernesto Guajardo Salinas elementary school. On 19 September, Granados announced a project to rehabilitate five intersections on Avenida Pedro Cárdenas, involving the resurfacing of over 16,300 square meters of asphalt to improve traffic circulation and safety for approximately 540,000 residents.
