Mato Grosso bridge infrastructure development
Overview
Construction is progressing on a major bridge over the Juruena River in Mato Grosso, which is set to become the largest in the state. Located on the MT-208 highway, the 1,410-meter structure will connect the municipalities of Nova Bandeirantes and Cotriguaçu.
The project, managed by Sinfra-MT, has reached 68% completion with an updated investment of R$ 293.9 million. Once finished, expected by late 2026, the bridge will replace the current ferry system in the Japuranã district, eliminating wait times for motorists.
The infrastructure is considered highly strategic for the agribusiness sector, as it will shorten cargo transport routes to Northern Arc ports by more than 400 kilometers via BR-163. The project also includes the paving of 59 kilometers of the MT-208 and the construction of three smaller bridges to improve regional logistics.
