Following the conclusion of party conventions, eight candidates were identified for the 2026 governorship in Mato Grosso do Sul. The initial group ~~of candidates~~ included incumbent Eduardo Riedel (PP), Delcídio do Amaral (PRD), Daniel Lemes (PCO), Fábio Trad (PT), Jeferson Bezerra (Agir), João Henrique Catan (Novo), Lucien Rezende (PSOL), and Renato Gomes (DC). By mid-August, the Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso do Sul (TRE-MS) released the official list of candidate registrations for the October 4, 2026, elections.
