The Mato Grosso State Legislative Assembly is advancing policies for the state’s geology and mineral resources sector. Through the Mining Working Group, officials are working to establish permanent governance of mineral resources via geological mapping and prospecting to support economic development. Key initiatives include the Educa Mineração project and a partnership with Invest em MT, linked to the State Secretariat for Economic Development, to increase international prospecting and attract investment. Additionally, preparations are underway for Expominério 2026, an event scheduled for late November in Cuiabá to host technology exhibitions and business opportunities. Discussions have also focused on the regulation of strategic minerals and ensuring legal certainty within the sector. As part of broader legislative activities, the Assembly is currently conducting public hearings regarding the 2027 Budgetary Guidelines Law (PLDO). During these sessions, the Mining Working Group continues to advance state policies for geological resources and preparations for Expominério 2026. Recent budget discussions included updated revenue projections from State Secretary of Finance Fábio Pimenta, who estimated a net revenue of R$ 46.1 billion for 2027, an increase from the initial R$ 42.1 billion estimate.
