Red Bull has released further technical and competitive details for the ‘Max vs 100’ go-karting challenge at the Silverstone Circuit. Now scheduled for September 17, 2026, the event will see Max Verstappen attempt to overtake 100 rivals over the course of 30 laps. New competition rules have been established to define the challenge: a rival is considered eliminated once the rear of Verstappen’s kart is ahead of their front. To increase the psychological pressure, Verstappen will maintain direct radio contact with all 100 competitors during the race. Additionally, a strategic ‘shortcut’ rule has been introduced; while every driver is permitted one shortcut, the timing is asymmetrical. Competitors must use their shortcut during the first half of the race, whereas Verstappen is only permitted to use his during the second half. The diverse grid of athletes, streamers, and fans includes Hong Kong content creator Yau Hok-sau, who has reportedly undergone intensive training for the event. The race will take place on a custom-designed track built within the Silverstone Circuit grounds. Regarding his personal preparation, Verstappen has indicated he has not undertaken specific training for the challenge, stating, “I will just show up and have fun.” Fellow drivers have also commented on the event; Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc advised the competitors to be cautious when racing against the world champion, noting the inherent difficulty of navigating a track with 100 participants.
