Mazatlán’s summer tourism drive continues under the "Plan “Plan Operativo Verano Seguro 2026," 2026,” which deployed 18,309 security personnel across the state and later concentrated more than 1,300 soldiers in the city to protect an expected 1.44 million visitors. In July, the Sinaloa tourism secretariat presented "México “México Anfitrión 2026" 2026” awards to hotels, guides and operators, underscoring a push for higher standards. Cultural and entrepreneurial initiatives continue with the "Sabe “Sabe a Mazatlán" Mazatlán” bazaar and the announcement of the 40-room Bonanza boutique hotel, part of a broader construction program adding roughly 2,500 rooms. Security measures were further tightened in early August with increased patrols, checkpoints and joint coordination with federal environmental agencies to regulate beach vendors and protect tourist zones. Following recent violence, authorities launched a massive deployment on August 7, including the Navy's "Operación Sable." “Operación Sable.” This operation involves nearly 2,000 naval personnel alongside the Mexican Army and National Guard, bringing the operational force in southern Sinaloa to between 5,000 and 8,000 agents.
