Overview

The Mecca Alliance has emerged as a focal point for regional security and defense cooperation in the Middle East. During discussions regarding Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, Fidan defended the alliance against critics who label such structures ineffective before they mature, while also participating in multilateral meetings with ministers from Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia to emphasize maritime security and the right to self-defense.

By early October, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense reported that the alliance’s Strategic Political and Defense Committee met in Riyadh to address collective defense measures and the institutionalization of the group. The Ministry clarified that any deployment of military capabilities to Saudi Arabia would be conducted in accordance with the Turkish Constitution and national legislation.
