Media content expansions and rebranding in Slovakia CZ and Czech Republic SK
Television and streaming operators in Slovakia and the Czech Republic have introduced expanded content offerings for their subscribers. In late September 2026, Skylink in Slovakia and Antik TV began offering free access to premium channels, including culinary and documentary programming, through November 3, 2026. In the Czech Republic, similar free access to paid stations featuring culinary and historical content was made available during this period. By October 5, 2026, media services in the Czech Republic further expanded their lineups. One operator introduced a new thematic channel focused on horror and fantasy films for the Halloween season, alongside additional music and true crime stations at no extra cost. In the streaming sector, Disney+ announced that it will include NBA broadcasts via ESPN as part of its standard subscription for the 2026/27 season through the 2035/36 season, providing regular season, playoff, and finals coverage without additional fees. On October 12, 2026, the French media group Canal+ announced it will rebrand its operations in the Czech and Slovak markets. The Skylink brand will be replaced by the Canal+ name starting October 22, integrating satellite, internet television, live broadcasting, and premium streaming services under one identity. The transition includes the launch of four new channels: Canal+ (focusing on original productions, films, and sports), Canal+ Drama, Canal+ Crime, and Canal+ Classics. The existing Canal+ Action and Canal+ Sport channels will remain in the portfolio. Existing customers will not require equipment changes or new registration processes.
