Concerns regarding media freedom and political pressure have emerged across Spain, Ecuador, and Mexico.

In Spain, scrutiny arose following reports of a Ministry of the Interior dossier containing profiles, photographs, and political assessments of numerous journalists. President Pedro Sánchez described the list as “very unfortunate,” while the administration labeled it an “inappropriate” internal document. Additionally, political tensions in Ceuta involved accusations of a personal discredit campaign within the PSOE.

In Ecuador, government officials denied censorship allegations made by journalists Fabricio Vela and Gisella Bayona, who reported professional pressures and potential advertising withdrawals. Secretary of Public Administration José Julio Neira maintained that the government of Daniel Noboa does not have a policy of censorship.

In Mexico, organizations such as Article 19 have warned of “structures of silence” and state-led actions that may inhibit critical journalism. Reported issues include judicial orders requiring the review of certain publications and the use of the “Right of Reply” by the Federal Executive’s Legal Counsel to monitor public discourse.
