Karl Wilfing, the President of the Lower Austrian State Parliament, was hospitalized in intensive care after suffering a heart attack and cardiac arrest while cycling on the Thayatal cycle path. The State Parliament Directorate reported that the rescue chain functioned ‘rapidly and excellently’ during his emergency transport to the University Hospital St. Pölten. During the incident, Wilfing’s sisters, Annemarie and Christl, provided critical first aid before emergency services arrived. He was subsequently transported via rescue helicopter to the hospital for intensive treatment. Following the initial medical emergency, Wilfing’s health reportedly began developing positively.
