In Mendoza Province, the government has implemented new regulatory frameworks for managing agricultural climate risks. Resolution 24 introduced a new Manual of Procedures for the 2026–2027 season, updating how agronomic engineers certify losses from hail, frost, and other climate events. These updated rules specifically impact farms larger than 300 hectares, requiring joint on-site inspections by multiple experts and consolidated assessment reports to determine eligibility for benefits under Provincial Law 9083. However, agricultural producers are reporting increased difficulty in accessing state support. Concerns have been raised regarding the dismantling of institutional networks, including the deactivation of the anti-hail system and the emptying of the Fund for Transformation and Growth. Additionally, new policies reportedly exclude producers from the Agricultural Compensatory Fund if they have experienced three climate contingencies within a five-year period. In General Alvear, local producers have formally expressed distress to the City Council, citing a lack of state support amidst rising climate risks. Regarding the 2026/27 season, the Ministry of Production and the Directorate of Climate Contingencies have announced updated enrollment dates for the Agricultural Compensatory Fund. Enrollment is scheduled from August 25 until September 20. The fund provides economic safeguards against hail and frost, with indemnity maximums of $1,500,000 per hectare for vineyards and fruit trees, and $200,000 for vegetables under specific hail coverage. Producers may pay via a lump sum or four monthly installments, with a 10% discount available for those joining through cooperatives or associations. All installments and compensation amounts will be adjusted according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
