In Tucumán, health and academic institutions have initiated training programs focused on suicide prevention and mental health. Initially, the Ministry of Public Health conducted training at the University of the North Santo Tomás de Aquino (UNSTA). This session targeted healthcare workers and therapeutic operators, specifically addressing how digital environments and technology use impact emotional well-being and mental health. This was a collaborative effort involving the Suicide Behavior Prevention and Approach Program of SIPROSA, the Government Training School, and the Tucumán Life Observatory. Following this, the National University of Tucumán (UNT) launched a suicide prevention initiative through its Faculty of Psychology. Dean Silvia López emphasized the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach involving security forces, education, health, and community agents to recognize warning signs. This program included specialists Ernesto Páez and Martín Álvarez, who provided expertise related to the development of the Suicide Prevention Law. Expanding the scope of prevention, health authorities are now promoting the importance of social support networks. Psychologist Víctor Abad, representing the General Directorate of Mental Health, noted that mental health issues affect all age groups and socioeconomic levels due to emotional, cultural, and socioeconomic factors. Experts recommend early intervention through local institutions like schools and clubs. Key warning signs for families include sudden changes in routine, involuntary social isolation, loss of interest in hobbies, and mood alterations. Professionals emphasize community-based care while cautioning against the pathologization of normal emotions during grief. Building on these efforts, the Ministry of Public Health organized the III Provincial Nursing Conference on Mental Health 2026. Coordinated by the Nursing Directorate and the General Directorate of Mental Health and Addictions, the program provided nursing staff with practical tools to manage problematic consumption, risk behaviors, and mental health disorders in both daily practice and emergency rooms.
