In mid-September 2026, local authorities and the Order of Psychologists in Emilia-Romagna signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a collaboration between local government and the psychological profession. This protocol focuses on strengthening prevention and proximity services in areas such as education, emergency management, and the protection of vulnerable individuals, while also addressing the psychosocial impacts of climate change. Following this agreement, the city of Reggio Emilia launched its 21st Mental Health Week on September 27, 2026. Organized by the Azienda Usl IRCCS di Reggio Emilia under the theme ‘Generations (Generating actions),‘ the program includes conferences, testimonies, and shows. Expanding regional awareness, the province of Modena and surrounding municipalities will host the 16th edition of Màt – Mental Health Week from October 24 to 30, 2026. Centered on the theme of ‘Connections,’ the event will offer over 80 free activities to address digital isolation and the importance of human relationships. In Reggio Emilia, related initiatives include the exhibition ‘Chiedimi se desidero incontrarti’ at the Church of SS. Carlo and Agata. Developed with the association Flag No Flags, this project uses art, personal objects, and audio tracks to foster community dialogue and combat the stigma of mental illness. Broader mental health and medical ethics initiatives are emerging across Italy. In Modena, the Màt event continues its focus on combating stigma through numerous activities. Meanwhile, in Sicily, a dialogue has commenced between the Regional Health Department and the Regional Movement of Mental Health Associations.
