Mercedes-AMG is advancing its high-performance lineup through both hybrid and fully electric technologies. The Mercedes-AMG G 63 continues to utilize a gasoline-focused approach, featuring a 3,982 cc V8 biturbo engine producing 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque, paired with a 48-volt semi-hybrid system that provides an additional 20 hp. system. In the electric sector, the brand has officially unveiled the GT SUV, its first large electric SUV developed independently on the dedicated AMG.EA high-performance electric architecture. The lineup includes the GT 53, GT 55, and flagship GT 63, positioned to compete with high-end models such as the Lotus Eletre and Porsche Cayenne Electric. The entry-level GT 53 SUV utilizes a 106 kWh battery, delivering 400 kW (544 hp) and a WLTP range of approximately 663 km. Higher-performance variants, including the GT 55 and GT 63, will arrive next year featuring feature advanced axial flux motors developed by the British company Yasa. The top-tier flagship GT 63 is expected to produce up to 860 kW (1,169 hp) and can utilize a larger 128 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 700 km. This flagship model features a battery capable of peak an 800-volt architecture and supports ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 710 kW, allowing a charge which can replenish up to 454 km of range in ten minutes. The GT 63 can accelerate from 10% 0 to 80% 100 km/h in approximately 12 minutes when using megawatt-class high-power charging stations. 2.5 to 2.7 seconds. To bridge the gap between electric and internal combustion performance, the GT 63 utilizes simulated V8 engine sounds—using recordings captured with 16 microphones from the AMG GT R—and virtual AMGForce 4D Sound system to simulate the acoustic experience of classic V8 engines and gear shifts. Separately, German engineering firm HWA has teased a restomod project inspired by the legendary AMG Hammer.
