The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric heavy-duty truck has entered both testing and commercial deployment phases. The vehicle was first introduced through a global expedition led by driver Tobias Wagner, who aims to travel 45,000 kilometers across five continents to test battery-electric long-distance transport under varying climatic and infrastructural conditions. Following this launch, the truck has also been integrated into commercial logistics operations. Vega Lojistik has added the eActros 600 to its fleet to manage transport between the Mercedes-Benz Türk Aksaray Truck Factory and the port, as part of efforts to increase zero-emission transport in its operations. Expanding its commercial footprint, PostNL is increasing its heavy-duty electric fleet by adding six Mercedes-Benz eActros trucks. This addition brings the company’s total to seven electric trucks, which are intended for longer routes across the Netherlands and Belgium. These vehicles feature an autonomy of approximately 500 kilometers even when carrying a full trailer and are expected to cover roughly 150,000 kilometers annually. Once fully operational, electric vehicles will account for approximately 2.5% of the total kilometers driven by PostNL’s heavy transport fleet. This move supports PostNL’s broader sustainability strategy to electrify nearly half of its heavy transport fleet by 2031 and achieve a 45% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.
