Mercedes-Benz has announced several expansions to its luxury and electric vehicle portfolios. Initial developments included the introduction of the Maybach GLS 680 SUV and the electric VLE 300 limousine. The company also detailed a next-generation, fully electric C-Class featuring an 800-volt architecture and rapid charging capabilities. Following these announcements, focus shifted to the high-performance Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet, a four-seater convertible. Information regarding this model includes plans for a facelift expected in early 2027, which will reportedly feature subtle exterior updates such as a revised front bumper and new Full LED headlights, while maintaining the current interior screen configuration. In August 2026, the company unveiled a major technical and visual facelift for the C-Class, available in sedan and estate body styles. Described as the “most extensive technical update in the model’s history,” the refresh includes the introduction of the MB.OS operating system to replace the previous MBUX, alongside enhanced driver assistance systems like MB. Drive Assist Plus and Pro, supporting L2++ semi-autonomous driving. This new software integrates AI-enhanced virtual assistants powered by technologies such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini. The powertrain lineup features 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines with a second-generation integrated starter-generator (ISG 2.1) for 48-volt mild-hybrid functionality, while plug-in hybrid versions offer an electric range of up to 140 kilometers. Visual updates include redesigned front bumpers, new headlight signatures with star patterns, and updated rear lights for the sedan. All engines have been updated to meet Euro 7 standards. A significant change to the AMG segment is the consolidation of models into a single flagship, the C 53 AMG 4MATIC+, which replaces the C 63 S E Performance and features a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine producing 449 horsepower. Orders for the updated models were set to open in mid-August 2026, with European deliveries expected by the end of the year.
