Mersin Metropolitan Municipality summer social services

The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has implemented various social service initiatives to support residents during the summer period.

One initiative involves the distribution of 163,000 cups of lemonade to workers and residents in industrial zones, market areas, and disadvantaged neighborhoods to provide relief from high temperatures. Additionally, the municipality is conducting the ‘Köy Bizim Şenlik Bizim’ (Our Village, Our Festival) event series. This program brings theater, games, and activities to children across 13 districts, ranging from Anamur to Bozyazı.

The festival series, organized by the Departments of Culture, Art and Social Affairs and Women and Family Services, recently visited the Arslanköy neighborhood in the Toroslar district. Activities include theater performances, intelligence and logic games, outdoor children's games, and mini-discos.

Local officials, including Arslanköy Muhtar Züleyha Ay, have noted the high demand for such social programs in rural areas. Field staff reported positive feedback, with some villages requesting repeat visits. Residents can request these festival activities through the Alo 185 call center.
