In late July 2026 Konami promoted the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection. On 22 July it disclosed that Volume 2 will run at 60 fps and up to 1440 p when docked to Nintendo’s Switch 2, requiring more storage than the original console. Two days later it launched a limited‑time free‑play offer for Volume 1 on Steam and Xbox (including Game Pass) that ran from 24 July through 27 July, accompanied by a 50 % discount on the bundle and individual titles. The promotion was intended to draw new players ahead of the scheduled 27 August worldwide release of Volume 2. On 28 July Konami confirmed the August launch and detailed the anthology’s contents – remastered Metal Gear Solid 4, Peace Walker, Ghost Babel and a digital soundtrack – and listed the platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch (including Switch 2) and PC (Steam). A new trailer highlighted upgraded graphics, frame‑rate options, and pre‑order bonuses that unlock extra Snake skins. On 30 July Konami released another trailer, titled “The Snakes Saga”, which traces the series chronology from Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater through Peace Walker to Metal Gear Solid 4, and again emphasizes the inclusion of the Game Boy Color classic Metal Gear: Ghost Babel as a bonus title.
