Metro Bank One Day Cup 2026 2026: Sussex winless streak

Sussex's early campaign in the 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup has been marked by a string of defeats. After losing to Durham by 72 runs on 24 July and to Yorkshire by 184 runs (D/L method) on 25 July, the side remained winless after three matches. The losing run continued on 1 August when Derbyshire Falcons posted 325‑7 325-7 and dismissed Sussex for 137, securing a 188‑run 188-run victory. On his 100th List A appearance, 42‑year‑old 42-year-old Wayne Madsen scored an unbeaten 104, his seventh List A century. Sussex’s bowler Jack Morley took five wickets, but the team stayed winless after four games, while Derbyshire moved up the Group B table. On 9 August, the Sussex Sharks suffered their fifth loss in six outings. Despite contributions from Isaac Mohammed and Brett D’Oliveira, the team was unable to defend a total as the Worcestershire Rapids chased down 334, reaching the target with 10 balls to spare. Worcestershire captain Jake Libby led the chase with an unbeaten 109.
