Mexican judicial authorities have issued several significant prison sentences in response to investigations into kidnapping and gender-based violence. In Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, individuals received sentences of 80 years for the aggravated kidnapping and murder of Italia Maité S. B., and 41 years for the aggravated feminicide of a woman. Other rulings included 67.5-year sentences for the feminicide of an eight-year-old girl in Taxco and a 30-year sentence for a partner's feminicide in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Following these developments, Ever Eliud L. M. was sentenced to 44 years in prison in Ciudad Juárez for aggravated feminicide and domestic violence. The defendant accepted criminal responsibility through an abbreviated procedure regarding a pattern of abuse that culminated in a feminicide in January 2025. The court also ordered the payment of 2,268,619 pesos in reparations for damages. Recent reports from Ciudad Juárez indicate ongoing legal and criminal activity. A woman has been linked to a criminal process involving human trafficking, sexual abuse, and aggravated rape against her daughter spanning an eight-year period. Additionally, local authorities reported the disappearance of 16-year-old Heidi Paola Martínez Martínez on October 19, the death of a woman following a physical assault in the Senderos de San Isidro neighborhood, and a shooting in the Lucio Blanco neighborhood that left one man injured.
