Israel Leonel Trigueros Muñoz detained in Mexicali
Mexican federal and state security forces arrested Israel Leonel Trigueros Muñoz, known as ‘El Isra’, in Mexicali, Baja California. Authorities identified him as a regional operator for ‘Los Rusos’, an armed group linked to the Sinaloa Cartel’s ‘Los Mayos’ faction. The operation, conducted on Boulevard Adolfo López Mateos, involved the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
Trigueros Muñoz is accused of several crimes, including kidnapping and drug trafficking. He is specifically linked to the August 2026 kidnapping of ‘El Gordo Gadaffi’ (Enghles Aralp Gastélum Cartagena), a ‘corridos tumbados’ singer, in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora. Additionally, he is investigated for an armed attack against a state security intelligence official in 2024. Following his arrest, he was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to determine his legal status.
