Municipal offices of Mexico’s DIF are using a variety of continue to use public events and pageants to encourage senior participation and visibility. In San Luis Potosí, DIF President Estela Arriaga Márquez and Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos oversaw the crowning of Rogelio Mireles Sifuentes and Florina Martínez Chávez as king and queen for 2026–2027. In San Martín Texmelucan, Puebla, officials held the ‘La Belleza No Tiene Edad’ contest to award the title of ‘Reina DIF 2026,’ emphasizing the social value of older adults. Recent community pageants have expanded these efforts. In Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Margarita Palomo was elected Queen of the Elderly 2026 at the José González Echeverría Theater, with Lucrecia and Manuela named princesses to join the royal court for Grandparents' Day. In Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Maribel Hernández García was crowned Queen of the Elderly 2026; she will advance to a state-level competition in Torreón. Participants in the Ramos Arizpe event, representing various community centers, also received economic incentives. In Zacatecas, Governor David Monreal Ávila and SEDIF President Sara Hernández de Monreal led a ceremony featuring the Gran Baile and the coronation of the State Queen of the Third Age 2026. María Auxilio Salazar was crowned State Queen, with Magdalena Ulloa and Olivia Reyes named princesses. Governor Monreal stated that caring for older adults is a priority, announcing the upcoming inauguration of ‘Casas del Bienestar’ in Jerez and Apozol to improve living conditions for the elderly.
