Various Mexican states have implemented the ‘Mes del Testamento’ (Month of the Testament) campaign to encourage estate planning and provide legal certainty for families. In Veracruz, the state government and the College of Notaries signed an agreement to run the campaign through September and October. The initiative offers preferential rates for universal wills, with costs ranging from 1,500 pesos for the general public to 1,000 pesos for vulnerable women. Reduced rates of 1,200 pesos are also available for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and various emergency and public safety personnel. Similar efforts are underway in other regions. In Baja California, the Colegio de Notarios announced that simple testaments would cost 1,500 pesos plus VAT during September. In Michoacán, the state government and its Notaries College established a collaboration to extend the campaign through September and October, aiming to make legal certainty more accessible and prevent future family disputes. New developments include the ‘Testamento de la Gente’ campaign in Guanajuato, which offers special pricing of 3,500 pesos during September and October to promote family stability. In Michoacán, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla signed an agreement allowing 198 notary offices to offer wills at a preferential rate of 3,500 pesos during the same period. Recent expansions include Sonora, where Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño initiated the program through a collaboration between the General Directorate of Notaries and the State Notaries College. In Campeche, the campaign has been extended through December 31, with rates ranging between 2,000 and 2,500 pesos. Additionally, in Querétaro, Notaría 26 has launched a new digital platform to allow citizens to begin the estate planning process remotely. In Chihuahua, the government is facilitating access to both public and holographic testaments. Furthermore, Chiapas has extended its campaign to 100 days, offering a 50 percent discount on universal wills.
